Latest Great Review For "Disrepair Part Two - The Pleasure Fled

Hi All

We’ve been getting a whole range of new reviews for our latest release Disrepair Part Two – The Pleasure Fled”, so I thought I’d share a few with you all. Here’s just a portion of what is being said. I guess the underlying theme to most of the reviews is the emphasis on our originality and uniqueness, which is fine by me.

“The truth is that the sound of Mechanical Organic continues, even in this new form, to stand to the upper levels of uniqueness.” Metal Perspective

www.metalperspective.com/reviews/mechanicalorganic2.php

“It's so beautiful, complex and diverse and it has such a variety of tunes and themes that time flows without realizing... you just feel compelled to push the play button again.” Behind The Veil

“For anyone who wants "something different" they may just find it here in this Progressive, almost Avantgarde metal release. “ Metal Storm

“The Pleasure Fled is indeed a very nice track, and even though it lasts a good 17 minutes and 18 seconds, it leaves you wanting for more! Which is always a clear-cut sight of quality to me! “ Concrete Web

Mechanical Organic - Disrepair Part Two - The Pleasure Fled

I'm proud to announce the release of Mechanical Organic's third album/EP "Disrepair Part Two – The Pleasure Fled" containing the monstrous 17 minute epic “Into the Fangs of Lunacy”. This one track contains some of our most unique writing and we're very proud of the musical content, vocal themes and lyrics. During the writing process we came to the realization that we have the ability to release music in whatever format, length and quantity we like. We have decided to concentrate on releasing longer epic style songs rather than your more traditional style album containing ten tracks. "Disrepair Part Two – The Pleasure Fled" is the beginning of this new found philosophy and we hope to release more music in this format within the year of 2009 and beyond. We hope to further the conceptual range of the political/conspiratorial “Disrepair” series with many more such releases.
Our sound on this release is a strange musical blend of Heavy, Electronic, Ambient, Progressive, Political and Conspiratorial elements.
And just to give you a little insight into the current line up –

Eddie Katz – Lead Vocals, Backing Harmonies, Programming and Keyboards – (Ex – Vauxdvihl, Ex – Where Echoes End, Pathway to Perception)

Connie D – Heavy and lead Guitar – (Spasticator)

Evan Harris – Bass, Fretless Bass, Chapman and NS Stick (Ex – Taramis, Eyefear, Black Majesty, Spasticator)

If you have a free minute you can check out the radio edit of the track at our Myspace page www.myspace.com/mechanicalorganic or visit the home of Mechanical Organic at www.mechanicalorganic.com for all the latest news and info.

Thanks guys

Album Update

The mixing process for the new Mechanical Organic release “Into the Fangs of Lunacy” is finally fully compete. Mastering has been books so we should have the finished product in a couple of weeks. I’m so pleased with the way the recording sounds. I really think this is our best effort so far and I can’t wait for you all to hear it. I’m really proud of this release and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the two contributing musicians who made this recording what it is today. Firstly Conrad, this man has personally shaped the Mechanical Organic sound by delivered one of his most melodic efforts yet. Conrad knows exactly what my music needs in terms of heavy and melodic guitar work, and I’m so glad he’s back. He’s meticulous, and really takes the time to develop a unique approach to each individual track, and this song is no exception. His guitar work is nothing short of perfection, it’s heavy and melodic and it fits the Mech Org sound like a glove.
And secondly, Evan, what can I say, I’ve know Evan for a long time and I’ve been a big fan of his playing since the old Taramis days. At one stage during the recording process Conrad suggested we give Evan a call to see if he would be interested in playing on this track. He was, and he did, and the results are fantastic. He is a master of his chose instruments which include bass, fretless bass and Chapman and NS stick. His style is instantly recognisable and I love his musical approach and ideas.
These two people are so musically capable that my song writing really only allows them to give us a glimpse of their musical talents. I’m honoured to have them on board for this recording and hopefully many more to come in the future.

Cheers

Eddie

Personal and Musical Update

Ok, here’s a nice long update summarising what’s been going on in my personal life as well as the musical world of Mechanical Organic. Firstly on a personal note, I’ve been swamped with all things family, work related and household chores and projects. I never thought that having a baby would be this time consuming, my life is completely upside down but in a good way. The demand on my time is constant and the push and pull of work and family life is an ongoing struggle. For a while I was wondering whether music and family life could coexist but I’m happy to say that I’ve finally found a balance that is manageable. It took us some time to find a routine where we each had a bit of space and free time to ourselves and we’ve realised that this is essential to our sanity. I now have some allocated time where I can do the things that are important to me and my wife has the same. We still need to rush around and really get stuck into whatever we are doing in order to finish but at least we now have that time. So all things considered the past year was a very hectic time for us both but we’re really starting to settle into our family life now and I actually love it.
Now on to Mech Org and the music that is being written. Ok firstly I’d like to mention that Conrad is back and working on a new tune I wrote called “Into the Fangs of Lunacy” which is a 17 minute monster examining the online truth movement and the infiltration of carnival barkers who spread disinformation. Conrad is working on the guitar parts and bass lines as I type this news update. The song will be released as a kind of mini album and will be titled “The Pleasure Fled”. In fact, I’ve decided to write much larger more expansive tunes and release them digitally as they are completed. Using this method we hope to release a steady stream up music rather than wait two or three years for a full length album. Being a completely independent band/artist we are able to go with the flow and do whatever we want. And at the moment releasing long, expansive multilayered music is where we’re at. Artwork for the new album is already complete, in fact the artwork for the next two releases is complete.
While Conrad has been working on the guitar parts for the new album I’ve been toiling away at another song that clocks in at around 25 minutes. This song is nearing completion with all vocal melodies, lyrics and music being recoded and polished in the studio at the moment. I have a working title but I’m keeping it under my hat for the time being.
I’m also working on digital distribution for Mechanical Organic through itunes, amazon, napster, rhapsody, e-music and host of others.
So I’m please to say that things are rolling along nicely at camp Mech Org. So keep an eye out for new music from Mechanical Organic in the very near future.

More news soon.

Cheers

New Video Clip, Album Release Details and I’m a Father

Video Clip - The new Mechanical Organic video clip is now finished, the songs is taken from the new album “Disrepair Part One – Permafrost Dreams” and is title “Mechanical Dreams”. I’ve been working on the clip on and off for a number of months and I finally found the time to hammer it into shape last weekend. I’m really please with it’s content and the way it turn out. It’s kind of dark and industrial looking which suits the subject matter perfectly. I will be uploading the clip very soon so keep an eye out for it on various hosting sites. I will also upload the clip to the Mech Org website as well. More details soon.

Album Release Date – The new Mech Org album “Disrepair Part One – Permafrost Dreams” is ready for release. I’m hoping to officially release the album later this month. It was actually ready to ship late last year but I held it back due to the Christmas period, I didn’t think it was the best time to release music. I also was struggling for time due to the latest release from Pathway to Perception. We just put out our latest CD and that look some time and effort to put together. So it’s been a very hectic couple of months but everything is finally settling down. And then there were three.

Baby News – To make things even more hectic and confusing my wife and I have just had our first baby boy. His name is James and he was born 2nd December, so he’s already 2 months old. He’s a bundle of energy, he’s full of beans and he’s demanding quite a lot of our time at the moment, so it’s been extra difficult finding the time to work on music and business issues. Whenever I have a free moment or whenever James is sleeping I sink my teeth into my music or something music related. I never ever thought that having a baby would change my life so drastically but it has, and it’s all positive.

Release Update

I’m still scraping together all the different elements for the release of the new album. The promo CD’s have been manufactured. I’m currently working on getting quotes for the printing of the DVD covers. The cover art is fully designed and looks great. The promo press kit/bio is also complete and set for printing so it’s just a matter of time before everything is ready to roll.
As soon as the Promo CD is ready to ship I will be uploading the new Mech Org website. It is still a little early to predict an official release date for the new album but I’m working towards a late November release. I need to do a lot of work to finalise everything but most of the release elements are now falling into place.
I really can’t wait to get this thing out. I gave the whole album another listen and overall I’m very happy with the way it turned out. There are always a few things I whish I could fix, a few little bass guitar melodies got slightly buries after mastering which I would have liked to be more up front in the mix. Other than those slight discrepancies I personally think it turned out great. I still really enjoy listening to the album as a whole which is weird. Generally once an album is finished I can’t stand hearing what I’ve been obsessing over for a year or so. Normally I’m completely over the songs but this time I quite enjoy listening to the end product. There are still moments where I worry about how the album will be received. But I guess I have to accept that that part of the process is out of my hands. I left no stone unturned on this release, every avenue was explored. You really can’t do more than that. But at the end of the day it is still a trippy listen and one that may not impress some reviewers. Not everyone is going to get this CD but hopefully most will recognise its originality and uniqueness and give it a reasonable review.

Release Update

Yesterday I received a spanking new Master and reference discs in the mail. Well, I didn’t find them till this morning. Yesterday morning I went and had a look in the mail box because I had a feeling the discs would arrive but I must have looked a little too early. As I was leaving for work today, there they were. I didn’t even think to check the mail box again in the afternoon. I was really wrapped up in working on the new Pathway to Perception CD and it completely slipped my mind. It was probably for the best because I would have spent most of the day listening to the new reference disc and encoding and tagging all the digital files for release. I guess that’s what I’ll be doing tonight! I will post my thoughts in a couple of days when I’ve had a chance digest it.
I’ve been keeping myself busy lately preparing for the release of the new album. The website is just about finished. I’ve just put the finishing touches to my new online store which will contain all the Mechanical Organic releases. I’ve decided to release all my music in three different digital formats, MP3 320kbps, Ogg Vorbis and Flac. I think that’s a pretty wide spectrum of formats and should please most people. On the weekend I also found the time to make a couple of Flash Banners for promo purposes. The plan is to create a couple of animated Gif banners as well just to cover websites that don’t allow Flash. Both banners look pretty cool and eye catching.
So, over the next couple of weeks or so I will be finalising all the web based stuff, ripping all the music to the three digital formats stated above, tagging all the songs with lyrics and artwork and organising the promo CD and packaging. There is still so much to do but things have really begun to pick up momentum. One foot in front of the other at this stage I’m afraid.

All Coming Together

At the moment I’m really exited about releasing the new Mech Org Album. The new website has really come together, including a new design as well as a new internet store. The album artwork has been completed. And the new promo CD pack, artwork and bio (which will be sent out for promotion and review) have also been completed. I also just got word that the pre-master disc has arrived at the mastering suite so everything is set for a late 2007 release. At the moment things are moving ahead with great speed and optimism and I’m really enjoying the journey. It really is refreshing to be able to work at my own pace for once and not be reliant on anyone else. Being a one man band has it’s drawbacks such as self doubt and musical isolation, but it also has it’s advantages, and at the moment I couldn’t be happier moving forward on my own.

With regards to the existing Mech Org website, I have taken down the guest book and forum. Over the past couple of month the increase in spam posting has become such a problem that I decide to abandon both accounts. I really don’t understand the mentality of people posting spam and porn links. Posts of this nature will be deleted instantly so I don’t understand the motivation behind spamming. Why put something up when you know it will be immediately torn down. Kind of stupid I think! Anyway, I simply got sick of deleting spam post from both sites so I decided it would be easier to take them down. The new Mech Org website will not feature a guest book or forum when it is published to the web. The new web site will go live late 2007 and will coincide with the release of the new Mech Org album.

Mixing Is Complete - Finally!

I spent a very big day in the studio yesterday finalising the mix and I’m happy to announce that the mixing process is over. To make sure that it really is 100% over I packaged up the pre-master CD and put it in the mail to Fox Audio Mastering this morning. Yesterdays effort was more about listening and making small adjustments rather than major mixing changes. Nothing was altered drastically, however I was able tighten up a few loose ends and make a few minor level changes. All the tracks were then bounced down to a single stereo wave files ready for mastering. I double checked all tracks for consistency and errors and everything seems to be perfect.
As I stated in my last update Mastering is booked for Monday the 8th of October so the CD should arrive with plenty of time to spare.

Over the weekend I was also able to spend some time on the new Mech Org website. The new site should be ready to launch around the same time the CD is mastered. Everything seems to be coming together.

Mxing/Mastering Update

Yesterday was a really significant day for me. We spent the day mastering the latest “Pathway to Perception” CD. This CD has taken over three years to complete and really was one of the hardest, most taxing albums I’ve ever been involved in producing. It wasn’t exhausting in a musical way, there was just so much down time that it was really hard to gather any kind of working momentum. It was a frustrating album to make and it was very difficult to find the motivation to want to work on it after such long periods of inactivity. At times it seemed like it would never be completed but after a recent concerted effort we finally managed to pull it all together to get the job done. Surprisingly the CD is by far our best sounding disk, in my opinion, and I was quite shocked at how good it actually sounded after the mastering was complete. Generally when you put in a disjointed effort when recording an album you pretty much end up with a disjoined recording at the end of the process. “Shit in shit out” is pretty much how it works. But I was pleasantly surprise that this disk is a winner, I’m very happy with the results but I really wasn’t expecting it to be.
At the end of the mastering session I booked the new Mechanical Organic album in for mastering. So I now have a deadline to work towards which will definitely help me put in the extra effort to finalize the new recording and mix.
I was also able to spend quite a bit of time mixing on the weekend, in between mastering the Pathways album of course. I am virtually at the stage now where I’ve done everything I can in terms of mixing. I will spend a bit of time listening to all the music again over the coming few days and make one or two minor edits if need be. Next weekend I will burn the pre-master disc and that will be that. The recording will be finished and ready for mastering.
Mastering is booked for Monday the 8th of October. That day will be another significant day in my musical journey. It will complete another really hard part of my life and draw to a close my involvement with other collaborative musicians. The completion of the new Mech Org album will be the start of yet another chapter in my life, a chapter that will see me forge ahead unaccompanied.

Mixing Update

Over the coming weeks I will be making a concerted effort to complete the mixing process. All seven songs are mixed to a certain level with only minor changes to be made. If all goes according to plan the mixing process should be finished in about 2 week. I really want this album mastered and released as soon as possible. Once the seven full length tracks are finalised I will need to revisit the intro pieces just to make sure they are all up to standard. I will then spend some extra time in the studio listening and comparing tracks in an attempt to get this recording as uniform and as consistent as possible. All tracks will then be recorded to a pre-master CD for future mastering. I have a mastering session booked for 22/9/07 for my other project “Pathway to Perception” and I will be making another booking for the mastering of the new Mech Org album very soon. Thankfully I can finally see the light at the end of this very long tunnel.

Band/Recording Update

After a long period of waiting and intense deliberation I finally made the decision to complete the guitar tracking myself. It wasn’t an easy decision to make because it basically spells the end of any sort of band contribution at the writing level, not to mention the live aspect of the band. There came a point in the recording process where the other band members needed to step up to contribute their ideas but due to other band commitments and time constraints they weren’t able to find the time. I have been forced into a situation where I either wait for everyone to become available or simply forge ahead on my own. Actually, there was another alternative but that meant replacing band member and starting from scratch and I’m a bit sick of constantly waiting for others to contribute and then begin held hostage by the lack of commitment, so that wasn’t too appealing. So here I am, back to where I started, Mech Org is now a studio project once again. It’s a pity that some of the band members couldn’t find the time to give Mech Org 100% because there was a period where everything seemed to be coming together. Rehearsals were getting close to sounding great, the new album was coming along nicely and on a personal level everyone was getting along. But you’re only as strong as your weakest link, and if certain people simply can not find the time to play a role in the bands continued evolution then everything stagnates and eventually dies. I’m not prepared to let this project die. I’m over the moon about the new recording and I love the new direction the music has taken. I couldn’t be happier with the music and I can’t wait to finally release this album.
After making the decision to continue alone I then had to work out how I was going to beef up the recording without the help of a guitarist. I did toy with the idea of giving it one last shot with a different guitarist and I did send a CD to a talented guitarist that I know but in the end it didn’t work out. So I decided to tackle the guitars myself. I’m not a guitarist but I am a bassist by trade so I began experimenting with distorted bass using different tuning and various distortion effects. I spent some time developing my technique as well as working on the sound. It really didn’t take me long to nail down exactly what I wanted, everything seemed to fall into place really quickly. I then began tracking the all the guitars parts on bass. About a month later the recording process was complete. The distorted bass sounds absolutely huge, I’ve never heard anything like it. I guess one of the things I’m most proud of is the fact that the music/songs are even more original sounding. The uniqueness level has simply gone through the roof. I have absolutely no idea what style of music this is, I have no idea what genre to place this under and I’m so happy that it’s finally done!
So over the next month or so I will be focussed on mixing this monster, starting this weekend.
Who knows where all this will lead. I have not closed the door on any band member and I will not rule out the possibility of Mech Org becoming a live band again, but at this stage I have to be realistic and do what’s best for myself and Mech Org. I will keep releasing unique music with or without a band behind me. I’m so happy that I’ve developed the skills to continue releasing music on my own when the need arises.

Mech Org - Studio Update

Mechanical Organic – Studio Update

Recording/Mixing

Just when I thought my part of the recording process was nearing completion I’m back in the studio tracking guitar. Well, distorted bass guitar to be precise. Connie D (Spasticator) will not be working with me on this recording due to other band commitments which leaves me with no alternative but to track the heavy guitar parts myself. As a result I’ve now decided to take this recording in a different direction and use distorted bass for the heavy riffing/chugging. I spent the weekend recording and I managed to complete two songs. They sound absolutely enormous. When I first thought of doing this I had no idea how it would sound. I began jamming along with the songs and soon discover that the heavy distorted bass really worked perfectly with the existing music. It took a while to get my palm muting under control but now that I’ve perfected that the music is devastatingly deep and heavy. I’m so excited about this new facet to Mech Org and I’m really looking forward to future recordings using the same technique.

I’m also at the stage where I’m listening to the whole album in it’s entirety. The song order has worked out really well and I think the album has a nice flow to it. I’m really happy with the songs and consistency between tracks. Everything sounds great and really even throughout.

The final running order, song titles and track lengths are as follows:

1. The C-Word 2:20
2. Fingerprints Of Conspiracy 6:05
3. A Glacial Smile 1:23
4. Mechanical Dreams 5:09
5. The Hypothetical Terrorist 1:17
6. From Behind Shattered Glass 6:00
7. Citadels Of Selfdom 1:12
8. Singular Facet 5:19
9. The Necessary Illusion 0:50
10. Very little Difference 5:02
11. I Was Blind But Now I See 1:03
12. Describe The Sky For Me 4:46
13. Problem-Reaction-Solution 1:46
14. Thesis-Antithesis-Synthesis 12:64
15. Farewell The Lonely Skeptic 3:58

The total running time clocks in at just under 60 minutes.

Video Clip

I’m also about half way through editing the new Mechanical Organic video clip. I chose track 4 Mechanical Dreams from the new album because it’s one of my favourite tracks. It has good hooks, it’s a thumping track and it was reasonably easy to develop visually on a very low budget. Working on this clip has been a long and slow process, endless edits, and then endless rendering just to see how the clips work in real time. I filmed the footage of myself last weekend and I’m now piecing together all my eclectic ideas. So far it looks really dark and kind of industrial.
