Nitocris

It was back in the days at Hunters Hill High School in the northern suburbs of Sydney, that it all began, when four heavy metal loving girls got kicked out of their music class. With a passion for Metallica, Sonic Youth, the Sex Pistols, and many other bands that play it loud, Kira, Jess, Sara, and Andi formed their own band.

It was some time later that the girls met Gana, however, in so doing, they had found the perfect vocalist. Nitocris was now complete.


Because most of the band were underage, most of their early gigs were restricted to youth gigs and all ages shows. The few licensed venues that would let them play, escorted them in, allowed them to play, and escorted them off the premises as soon as the gig was over.

It was Evan Dando of the Lemonheads who first discovered Nitocris at their first paying gig. He was so impressed with the band, that he invited them to support the Lemonheads when they played a few weeks later.

The rest, as they say, is history. With 5 E.P's, 1 album, and more than 300 gigs under their belts, Nitocris are poised to be one of the greatest bands that Australia has produced.
