Los conocíamos hace tiempo por su filiación al sonido post-hardcore, siendo el máximo exponente de ese estilo en las Islas Canarias (junto a This Drama o Daylight in Red), con anteriores trabajos grabados por Xavi Navarro y Santi Garcia y, siempre bajo las coordenadas de un género poco dado a las salidas de tono de aire pop. Pero algo ha pasado en el seno del trío canario para que se haya abierto un cielo que quizás ni ellos mismos tenían previsto: y es que han descubierto su propio talento para concentrar sus energías en la melodía y, mucho más allá de ello, del sinfín de recursos que pone a su alcance la música pop cuando no se tienen prejuicios para asimilarla. Y, cuando hablamos de pop, nos referimos al pop rabiosamente contemporáneo que bebe del punk al igual que de los sintetizadores, e incluso del desasosiego acústico cuando la canción lo merece. Así pues, encontramos en "Anticongelante" una variedad de recursos, incluso de estilos que, siempre bajo un patrón común, convierten a The Mistake en un grupo de una modernidad encomiable. Encontraremos mil referentes que no tendríamos porque relacionar entre sí a no ser que entendiéramos que estan unidos por un manto de veteranía, de falta de prejuicios y de inquietud musical fuera de cualquier complejo. Esa voz en castellano que los acerca a nuestros Nueva Vulcano, pero tambien esos teclados entre Interpol, Futureheads e incluso Maximö Park, o esas acústicas introspectivas cercanas a Sr. Chinarro o Los Planetas, sin olvidar el punch emocore de sus incios, con reminiscencias de Sensefield, Chamberlain o Superchunk. Probablemente esta amalgama de géneros, mezclados con coherencia y ejecutados impecablemente sea propia de un grupo con la carrera de más de 10 a��ós de The Mistake, que tras dos excelentes discos como "Opium" (13 Grabaciones/La Felguera, 2001) y "Polaroids" (2005), les han llevado a plantearse éste, el tercero, como un segundo punto de partida de su carrera.






We knew them for their connection with post-hardcore, being the higher representatives of this sound in the Canary Islands with recordings forged by Xavi Navarro and Santi García (sublime spanish hardcore producers) that used to swing between the genre references which ment not being open to pop. But something has opened a sky in the core of this trio, a sky that none of them ever dreamt about: the chance of finding a new and talented way of expresing their own music. Building up melodies and using the endless variety of sounds that pop music can offer. We mean pop as a ragely actual way of music that comes from punk as it does from sytnhs or even acoustic restlessness when a song needs it. So, that's how we find an inmense bunch of tunes and styles in "Anticongelante". A thousand of names we shouldn't have to relate one another if it weren't for the way they melt under a layer of age, a lack of prejudices and a discharge of musical inquietude that runs from any complex. That voice in spanish that brings them to Nueva Vulcano (the rebirth of Aina), but also those keybords a la Interpol, Futureheads or even Maxïmo Park. Also such an introspective acoustic tunes similar to Sr. Chinarro or Los Planetas, without mentioning the emocore punch of bands such as Sensefield, Chamberlain or Superchunk. Probably this mix of genres, between coherence and a clean playing should come from a band with more than ten years of exprerience. But The Mistake's carreer runs for no longer than those ten yeras with albums like "Opium" or "Polaroids". This new album ir a second chance for them, a new age.
