The Boy Who Spoke Clouds is the moniker of Adam Casey, guitarist and singer of Seascapes of the Interior. The Boy Who Spoke Clouds explores very different territory to Seascapes of the Interior, the main focus being acoustic instrumentation including acoustic guitar, hand drums, bells, layered hand clapping, strings and a mixture of harmonised singing and chanting.

The Boy Who Spoke Clouds amalgamates Adam’s love of gypsy and indigenous music, the polyrhythmic approach of composers such as Steve Reich and Gyorgi Ligeti with his folk based compositions, which one could liken to Sufjan Stevens or Iron and Wine. The combination is unexpected, yet somehow, these disparate sounds unite into a glorious whole, the songs, at times, bursting with joyous yelps and flamenco style hand clapping and other times, settling into more introspective and sparse territory.

The Boy Who Spoke Clouds live performances are of a different variety, with Adam playing solo on the most part (with the occasional guest) and replacing much of the recorded parts with vocal mimicry and foot stomping. One can always expect these performances to be gripping. ‘I don’t see the point in getting up there and dragging people down. As soon as I hit the stage, I give nothing less than everything I have. Performance is my catharsis, the greatest release in my life.’

The debut album of The Boy Who Spoke Clouds is currently in progress and Adam hopes to release it early 2006.
