N A R K

N A R K started as a progressive fusion rock band in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1999. Naresh Vempala (guitar, keyboard bass), and RK Pai (drums, percussion, recording) are its two key members. N A R K was active in the open-mic/gigging circuit in Raleigh, and Cary, North Carolina from 1999 to 2002, after which Naresh Vempala moved to Louisiana. The band hit its high notes when two of its original songs from their debut album One for the road , Raag Rock, and Hindustani Menace, reached the top of the mp3.com progressive rock charts in April 2003. N A R K's unique sound is a fusion of 60s-70s rock with East Indian semi-classical and folk idioms. The band is currently inactive but does play occasional shows in North America.
