Star Sludge play at midnight on Sat. 5th Dec at The Jubilee Hotel for the 4ZZZ birthday gig with Blowhard, Turnpike, Nova Scotia, Kunst, Forty Five, Punxie & the Poison Pens and the much anticipated return of The Disables.


I've got us roughly in the power-pop/punk something or other category because we don't really fit any genre, there's indie, grungish, acoustic, weird experimental/techno here for entertainment... and to confuse the media....chuckle

'Mostly' was put into the Brisbane short movie, Bluebirds of Peace and Destruction during the egg burning scene.

....The now very old track Acid Blue was recorded in Aug 2005 onto an old AIWA tape player through an even older TEAC.
My arms almost fell off carrying the two tape players through The Valley but the result was still entertaining.

The name Star Sludge came from Velikovsky's 'World's in Collision' which was burned in the 1950's in a book burning rampage by the universities, yes, we were still book burning then.
He described streams of 'Star oil' falling from Venus and burning as it hit the oxygen in the sky.
We now fight over the 'Star Sludge' in Iraq, very ironic.
"The rain of fire-water contributed to the earth's supply of petroleum; rock oil in the ground appears to be, partly at least, "star oil" brought down at the close of world ages, notably the age that came to its end in the middle of the second millennium before the present era."
Velikovsky may have been a bit mad but what entertainment and something full on happened back then...
So Star Sludge means Oil

I have a long history playing in bands in Brisbane since 1984.
Alien Virus is still going and started in 88 (that's a side band), Escape from Toytown was No.1 in the 4ZZZ Radio Hot 100 in 96 with Fish and Chip Bitch from Ipswich (without trying, that song was recorded under a house through one amp, I was over it by Christmas which is why you can't download the later versions) and Acid World was No.3 in 92 and 93
