BLUE VELVET is a contemporary 60's lounge act for the 21st century.

BLUE VELVET was created in 1996, when founder Kevin Cavanaugh
was writing and directing a variety dinner theatre show in
Kentwood, Michigan called "Expect The Unexpected". The show
was nearly completed when he and the cast discovered they needed
an extra two minutes to complete a costume change before the finale.
Kevin went home that very night, wrote the music and lyrics for
"Out To Lunch", and staged it the next day. "Out To Lunch" was
performed with two female vocalists who were costumed
"ala" Doris Day and Kevin as a lounge singer. After the show's
run, the three performers decided to continue working together,
and Kevin focused on writing songs and arrangements that showcase
exquisite vocal harmonies. After rehearsing the original
compositions and including standards and medleys of 60's pop tunes,
BLUE VELVET was born of Kevin's love for Lounge Music, The Fifth
Dimension and ABBA.
