Behind The 8 ball started in late 99 as a very basic 4 piece punk band heavily influenced by Millencolin and MxPx.

Formed from a bunch of slow witted fools from Como high school, Jacob (vocals/guitar) provided necessary talent; Josh (guitar/vocals) was and is a good bloke; Ritchie (drums) gave nothing useful other than poor counting skills, many disorders, naive lyrics and the band name; Pete was assigned the role of the much needed bass player even tho he couldn’t play.

In early 2000 under influence from Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake, the founding members decided to get good and go ska, Tim (trumpet) was invited along to fill space in the room and Leonard (sax/vocals) came along to attempt to demonstrate some form of hip-hop style.

Later that year Leonard’s cousin Josh (trumpet/vocals) joined to demonstrate foul behaviour, a poor sense of humour and with Leonard attempted to introduce a more reggae feel to some of the songs.

In early 2001 Ritchie(drums) left due to other commitments, after a couple of months of searching Troy, Jacobs younger brother, joined on the drums contributing a more punky style to the band.

After much hard work to get past a 2 year beginners drought of gigs, Behind The 8 Ball progressed to playing a varied ska/punk/reggae style grounded in Less Than Jake and Sublime and are sure to always be having a bloody f#*king bonza good time!
