Deadman Turner was found at the Launceston Tip being raised by spotted-tail quolls, and brought up (by his profoundly deaf, adoptive parents) on a diet of Polish polka and Hungarian salami. After touring the world by unicycle, teaching Braille-typing in an Ukrainian whorehouse and for a brief time editing English-language jihadist weapons-training manuals, Deadman returned to Tasmania where he learned to play slide guitar during the hours he spent waiting in vain for the devil to appear down at the crossroads.
