The short story:
Digit is an Adelaide Based dance-pop combo which started out as a drummer and bass player jamming around 1997, and reached their peak as a three piece with various guests around 2001/2002. Their last live appearance was sometimes in 2003. The recording of Digit's first LP was never completed.

Some of the things that were said:
"Completely and classy trip hop sounds produced by purely live instrumentation (guitar, bass, drums) ... an achievement that displays an unusual amount of discipline and focus at every instrumental turn ... perhaps simply a melange of lounged out, jazz tinged, evocative blue note listening for 2000 ..." Rip It Up Magazine
"Make sure you check out soulfull humanistic trip hoppy electronica crew Digit ..." Onion Magazine
"This tight unit deliver funky, pop laden, delightful tunes ..." Stix And Thongs.
"Laid-back trip hop grooves and fantastic female vocals..."MP3.com.au (Artist Spotlight 10/09/00)
"It’s been a genuine delight to watch the meteoric rise of this fairly young but highly ambitious dance-based act over the last two years. On a local level, Digit have achieved remarkable success in a relatively short time…" State Of Sound (Rip It Up Magazine)

The long story:
Digit's first two-track demo, featuring Carla Lippis on vocals, positioned at number one on Adelaide Three D Radio's charts the first weeks of its release (Sept 1999) and number 4 on Three D's annual Top 100+1 for 1999.
Digit's first self-titled 4 track CD-EP was released at 12:00am on Saturday 1st January 2000 (via service stations in Adelaide), and the only fourty signed and numbered copies available to the public sold out in less than a month. Digit were instantly number one on Three D's weekly charts, and number one on the South Australian Music Industry Association/Triple M Real Music Chart (weekly sales of local releases). Regular air play on various radio stations in SA, as well as Sydney's 2SER.
In May 2000, Digit received two SAMI Awards (Public Vote) for 'Most Popular SA Band/Artist' and 'Most Popular SA Release' (Digit-Self Titled).
June 2000 sees Carla and Digit part ways after about a year of cooperation. Digit are now a three piece, working as hard as ever, featuring special guest artists on vocals and various instruments.
In August 2000, Digit released the promotional two track Demo-CD "ibidi", featuring Sally Cameron as guest vocalist.
The self-titled EP and the demo ibidi respectively positioned at number 6 and 8 on Three D's annual Top 100+1 for 2000.
November 2000: the original drummer Justin decides to take a break from drumming all together (a real surprise to everyone!). Hugh becomes Digit's new drummer that same month.
In February 2001, Digit composed, produced and recorded the soundtrack for SACBA (South Australian Community Broadcasting Association)’s Community Service Announcement, televised on most TV channels in South Australia during May/June 2001.
Later that year, Digit released a new single "Every Moment", featuring Shaun Doddy on percussions and 2001 Adelaide Conservatorium Jazz Award winner Naomi Crellin on vocals.
"...sounding like some elusive & exotic Northern European chanteuse, Crellin harmonises many of her lines in an intriguing fashion, weaving a complex & shifting melody that's out in some jazzy poetic stratosphere, light years from the expected." Drum Media - Sydney
Every Moment also contains three instrumental tracks from a live-to-air on Adelaide Student Radio.
"...displaying well the fact that Digit are talented at live jazz arrangements." 3D World - Sydney

Hugh - Drums
Paul - guitar
Guillaume - Bass
