Recorded in every home he’s lived in over the past nine years, shifting from quarter inch tape reels into the digital age along the way, Melbourne singer-songwriter Gerard Daley independently released his 12 track compilation album, Diff’Rent States, on 01 November 2008.

Although Gerard spent much of his twenties playing in bands including The Stuntcar Drivers and Delta House, he always found time to record his own solo material. And while the tracks featured on Diff’Rent States represent almost a decade of his song-writing, there’s still a consistent theme that surfaces across these recordings: the battle between reality and romance.

Diff’Rent States also includes the track ‘The Wrongness of Righteousness’; a song which is featured on Neil Young’s online ‘Songs of the Times’ chart, as well as ‘Butcher’s Blocks’; a track completed in 2007 after a few musician friends recorded each of their parts in their own home studios, and emailed the results across to Gerard.
