Imaginary Band makes pop music. In 1997 the haunting debut EP THE FABLE was played on Triple J, and lauded as "classy and promising" by Rolling Stone. The EP SPACE INVADERS is “...somewhat part Radiohead, part Alex Lloyd and part Queen...A very bold sojourn for a totally independent artist, it'll be interesting what he'll bring out next” - OzMusic Project.

Next was the debut album BEYOND THE GIFT: "...we have one of the most impressive releases perhaps made in 2000 thus far...This is one very good album that should get a lot more exposure than it probably will - make the effort" - hEARd online magazine October 2000

BEYOND THE GIFT received distinguishing airplay on Triple J with the track I'LL HAVE WHAT HE HAD, while in 2001 other single releases A.I. and YOU CROSSED THE LINE were warmly received by community radio stations RRR and 2MCE.

Imaginary Band came in Top 5 in the 2001 Kreator Unsigned Airplay Competition. Then in 2002, while the writing continued, Imaginary Band provided some of the music, including the theme tune and incidentals, for an independent Tasmanian movie production - Scott Lawson’s film debut "Life Goes On".

Later in 2002 Imaginary Band provided further incidental material for Lawson's second film, "Forced Impressions", premiering in Hobart in October 2003. Impressions were good! Groan.

Imaginary Band is currently engaged in collaborative music projects live and recorded, providing vocals for various music producers whilst continuing work on many Imaginary Band songs.

In 2005, Imaginary Band provided the soundtrack and songs for Scott Lawson's Screen Tasmania-funded short film "Dark Decisions". The film has screened and continues screening at numerous film festivals in Australia, Canada, USA, UK, Europe and the Eastern Block. It recently won the "Film Ballarat Hepburn Award" at the Victoria Festival of Motion Image.
