Kitsunegari is an acoustic pop/folk artist with almost a decade of experience as a solo performer. She has captured the imaginations and hearts of all who listen; her silken voice and catchy melodies entrance the listener from the first note to the last. Kitsunegari's lyrics paint portraits of her experiences and her interests.

Her music has allowed her to perform in venues in and around Brisbane, Ipswich and Bendigo in Central Victoria.

With the help of Matthew Hoffman and Lempicka Records, Kitsunegari finally entered the studio and recorded her debut EP “bootpolish&babies”, an ecclectic mix of original songs that illustrates her songwriting and lyrical inventiveness.

During recent months, Kitsunegari has gained airplay on Brisbanes' premier community radio station 4ZZZ and internet radio station Downunda Thunda Radio. She has even been a feature airplay artist on Downunda Thunda Radio Promotions Queensland.

In the wake of these developments, Kitsunegari has decided to put her solo days behind her and gather together a band of merry music makers to help her on the road ahead.

BLOW IT OUT YOUR ARTS

happy new year to all!

things are looking up for 2009 in the kitsunegari camp. three gigs already lined up and plenty more a-coming.

first on the agenda is a fundraising event for the brisbane arts theatre. kitsunegari, along with a group of awesome local bands, will be donating their music to aid the brisbane arts theatre raise money.

from the press release:
........

A cheekily-titled live music fundraiser, Blow it Out Your Arts is the perfect way to spend the Sunday before the Australia Day public holiday

Starting at 2pm, the historic Brisbane Arts Theatre will host seven hours of live acoustic pop, rock and folk music.

Brisbane quartet The Butcher Birds will headline the event. Time Off Brisbane has described this quartet as a “powerful live act”, “diverse and powerful”, and a band “with a lot to look forward to”.

The line up of fantastic local talent also includes:

*Gerard Mapstone (from Doch Gypsy Orchestra)

*Rhiannon Hart & friends

*Shelby Lim

*Sabrina Lawrie
(from Little Vegas and the Fuzz Parade).

*Kitsunegari

Come for an hour or two, or come for the whole day. It's only $10 at the door - and all proceeds go towards helping the Brisbane Arts Theatre.

You may have rocked out hard at the Big Day Out, but by the Australia Day weekend, you might be in for some chilled out, relaxed local sounds. Plus at $10, it won't break the bank.

The Brisbane Arts Theatre’s Masks bar WILL be open. This is an ALL AGES gig, but ID will be checked. Under-18s will NOT be served alcohol. There will be onsite security.

........

so, come along and spend some time supporting local musicians helping out one of brisbane's most iconic local theatres.

til next....
