‘Waik' is a Progressive Rock Band from Wollongong , New South Wales , Australia .

Frequently described on various MP3 sites as a hybrid between Tool, Korn and System of a Down, ‘Waik' have quickly developed a style of their own, as well as a fan base eager to hear them.

‘Waik' is a Wollongong based band whose close contact has helped develop their personal, musical and business relationships. Simon (Guitar) and Andrew (Bass) have been friends since Kindergarten. Nathan (Vocals) and Simon met during high school and although Grant (Drums) is new to the band, he has previously worked closely with Waik, which has further strengthened the musical bond the band now shares.

In October of 2003 ‘Waik' completed their latest EP titled “Contrast” , recorded by Stuart Stuart of ‘ Chartsong Productions' in Brisbane , Australia .

“Contrast” is available through MGM Distribution in Australia , ‘Undertow Records' in Europe and ‘ ADA ' Distribution in the U.S.A. This CD is the first true representation of the bands sound and future direction.

‘Waik” continue to grow academically as well as musically: Fine-tuning their sound and live performance, building a national and international Street Team aply named ‘Evolution', helping to make themselves known to as many industry people as possible to help create that all important ‘Buzz'. This ‘Buzz' is the first step in ‘Waik's' developing career plan, which involves expanding their existing fan base by increased the frequency of live shows interstate, and gaining record label representation.

Throughout their career, ‘Waik' have participated in numerous events to help raise money for various charities, and were also one of the TOP10 FINALISTS in the 2002 ‘MUSICOZ' challenge, which is a competition run Australia wide.

‘Waik' have received reviews by many local newspapers and magazines such as, ‘The Drum Media', ‘Kerrang', ‘Tsunami' and ‘U-Turn' , as well as numerous Internet E-zines such as ‘ Inside Metal', ‘The Global Muse', ‘Rock Us' and other publications. The band has also achieved airplay both nationally and internationally through their extended overseas street teams.
